Prime Minister Chairs Meeting on Traffic Congestion Resolution and Management

A high-level meeting was held with the aim of alleviating the long-standing traffic congestion in the capital Dhaka and modernizing traffic management to make it more effective. The meeting took place on Thursday (May 14) evening at the Public Administration conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat, presided over by Prime Minister Tareq Rahman.

Ministers in charge of the Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping ministries, along with the administrators of Dhaka South and North City Corporations and other relevant officials, were present at the meeting.

Among those present were Sheikh Rabiul Alam Rabi, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges; Habibur Rashid, State Minister for Railways; Abdus Salam, Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation; Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation; and Member of Parliament Advocate Shimul Biswas.

According to sources from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, this was the second meeting regarding the resolution of Dhaka’s traffic congestion and its management. Detailed discussions were held on improving the city’s road management, coordinating the public transport system, modernizing traffic signals, and strengthening coordination among the relevant agencies.

The meeting emphasized bringing the capital’s traffic situation under control through swift and effective initiatives.
