Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 has reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have ordered the Israeli army to halt its attacks in Southern Lebanon. However, no decision has been made regarding troop withdrawal. Channel 12 further stated that this decision was coordinated with the United States. This implies that while the order to cease attacks has been issued, Israel is not yet withdrawing its forces from the occupied areas.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that Israeli attacks, which commenced on March 2, have thus far resulted in at least 4,057 deaths and 12,121 injuries. The ministry added that the death toll from Friday’s attacks, initially reported as 47, was subsequently revised to 83 ‘martyrs’ and 141 injured.
According to the report, the majority of the deceased and injured are residents of Southern Lebanon. Attacks have also been reported in the eastern parts of the country. International observers suggest that despite the order to halt attacks, the border situation remains uncertain due to the continued presence of troops.
