Prime Minister: People Have Deep Trust in the Army

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that the people have deep trust in the Bangladesh Army, which is a symbol of the nation’s independence and sovereignty. He remarked that the army has repeatedly set unique examples of professionalism, courage, and patriotism in confronting national crises, ensuring national security, and maintaining law and order.

He made these remarks on Sunday (July 13) while inspecting the Bangladesh Army’s summer training exercise in Purbo Rahmatpur, Babuganj Upazila, Barishal.

During the inspection, the Prime Minister cordially interacted with the army personnel. He went among the members on duty inside the jungle, inquired about their well-being, and encouraged them to continue their duties with dedication, discipline, and professionalism.

He stated that the discipline, efficiency, sacrifice, and devotion to duty of the army personnel have fostered a special sense of respect and trust for them in the hearts of the nation’s people. He emphasized the importance of regular professional training, the use of modern technology, and maintaining peak readiness to uphold this honor.

The Prime Minister further added, “I grew up in an army family. That’s why I feel very good when I come among the army personnel. Many childhood memories come back to me.”

He expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army would achieve greater fame, prestige, and professional recognition beyond the nation’s borders in the international arena. He also stated that the government would continue to provide all necessary cooperation to enhance the army’s capabilities, modernize it, and ensure professional excellence.

During the inspection, the Prime Minister walked through the vast jungle area, observing various training activities and wartime preparations of the army personnel. He monitored strategic operations mimicking real combat situations, including troop positioning and movement in remote areas. Responsible army officials briefed him on various aspects of the exercise and the force’s strategic readiness.

Furthermore, he witnessed the operation of an anti-drone multi-barrel system used to detect and neutralize enemy drones. Concerned officials elaborated on the defense system’s operational procedures and its deployment in combat scenarios.

At one point, the Prime Minister sat on the ground with the army personnel for some time. He listened to their accounts of training, duties, and field experiences. Later, he also partook in meals prepared instantly in a battlefield environment for the soldiers participating in the exercise.

For the Prime Minister, a meal was served, cooked over a fire created by lighting candles inside a can, consisting of white rice, lentils, mashed potatoes, shrimp, and egg curry.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A.K.M. Shamsul Islam, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Prime Minister’s Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tarique, and other senior officials of the Bangladesh Army were present on the occasion.
