Case Filed in Dhaka Over Alleged Offensive Remarks About Islam

Won Correspondent : case has been filed in Dhaka against writer and blogger Md. Jakir Hossain over allegations of making derogatory and offensive remarks about Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on online platforms.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly published multiple posts on his personal website and X (formerly Twitter) account containing statements that hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims. The complainant, Yusup Kawsar, appealed to the court to ensure the highest and harshest legal action against the accused under the relevant provisions of Bangladeshi law.
On 24 May,  Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter of Court # 15 of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrates’ Court took cognizance of the matter and ordered an investigation by the PBI unit of Shahbag Police Station.
Court sources said the case has been filed under sections 295, 295(A), 298, and 34 of the Bangladesh Penal Code of 1860 and registered as C.R.-219/2026.
An unnamed court source confirmed that Md. Jakir Hossain used offensive and abusive language against Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through his personal online platforms and social media activities.
No official statement from the accused was available at the time of filing this report, as attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for 25 June next month for the submission of the investigation report by PBI.
