Killer of Martyred President Ziaur Rahman Arrested

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police have arrested retired Major Md. Muzaffar Hossain, a convicted accused in the murder case of Martyred President Ziaur Rahman, after he had been absconding for a long 45 years.

He was apprehended on Thursday (July 16) during a special operation conducted by the DB. Following necessary legal procedures, he has been handed over to the Bangladesh Army.

According to police sources, he had been in hiding for approximately 45 years since his conviction in 1981 in the murder case of the then-President Ziaur Rahman. The DB police were able to apprehend him after prolonged search and intelligence surveillance.
